Hi!
This is a great extension for Joomla.
The main problem for me is...When you have to manage multiple user accounts; and when you select
multiple users to procede with the asignation of a group or a role...The component works with
only one user...And hey...If you got 50...100...200 users...(like in my site) Can you imagine
all the work that it has to be done?
Am I doing something wrong?...

I see that this report is actually for the developer.

A fix or update will be much, much appreciated.

Nevermind... I found a simpler solution to restrict frontend access to resources (content, menus, components, etc)... "Frontend User Access" at http://www.pages-and-items.com/

Simple 2 minute install and setup. Bingo. Certain registered users placed into a Non-Voter's group can't access the com_pollxt poll component! Yay.

Sorry for the wastes thread space. Feel free to delete it.

I want to block access/viewing of the com_poll and/or com_pollxt components for users
not in a group. How, because after installing your component and sys plugin it doesn't
block registered users from seeing them who are NOT in a group.

I created a new resource named 'PollXT' as frontend, type=request, option=com_pollxt,
task=blank, view=blank, params=blank, redirect = index.php. Created a new group and
added a group user 'testuser.'

'testuser' logs in and can click on a PollXT type menu button and access the poll
content whether they are in the group or removed from the group.

How to configure your component to do this?

Hi, I'm quite new with Joomla and I didn't succeed to make the right limitations to users.

This is what I want to make:

User get one year membership after registering. I don't have any registration forms so I register them myself and that's okay. But is it possible make a resource (or something) which lasts one year so I don't need to make resource/role to everyone.

What I should do with expiry date thing?

I manage a non profit site and we use Event Registration Pro that has no front end access.

We want to allow several people to be able to enter Events.

That is all we want to do at this hour.

Can we do this and is it fairly simple to set up?

I want to be able to have the public view all articles, sections or categories. However, I want to give creation and edit rights to certain members and then only to their respective section or category. Will this component do that? How? Example please?

We released the YOS ccboard category YRM plug-in here:

Now you can define resources which are ccboard category easily.
Then assign that resource to your users, groups.

please see attached file. In this example, we have a resource which is a category of ccboard with id is 2.

Hello,

My idea is to give selective view permissions to categories in the CCBoard forum.

e.g.:
5 categories (Region 1 --> 5)
Each category fas 1 forum.

The idea is to give
user1 access to category 1, not on 2-->5,
user2 access to category 2, not on 1 & 3-->5
and so on for the other users.

How should I configure this?

:blue: Well I feel stupid but I don't get it...
For instance if I want to hide an entire menu or menu item on the frontpage or backend after a user has logged in. What do i do?

In "Resource manager - edit" there are options not mentioned in the help text. see attached image. Module and menu. How are they used?

After you define a resource, example an article or all article in a category, no one can access that resource.
To allow your users access the resource, you need to do:
- assign the resource to each user
- Or assign the resource to a role and make sure you have a group which has that role. Then all users in this group will be able to access this resources.

This is an example how I define a resource which is all articles in "1st test category" (category id: 34)

Let's see this resource:
when you view an article, the url will look like this (original, no sef): yourdomain.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=number
-Name: just something helps you to understand what the resource is.
-Affected Domain: Front-end, I just need it works on fron-end
-Type: Request, of-course it must be Request.
-Option: com_content, we're working with articles so this must be com_content
-Task: leave blank, because I see that there is no task variable.
-View: article, I just want to restrict users when they view this article.
-Params: In this example, I used a plug-in: YOS content catid, you can download this plug-in in download section. You can see the plug-in description on the right of image.
-Redirect URL: just redirect user to an article page.
-Redirect Message: whatever you want.
